As part of Healthy Eating Week, we have been discussing how to eat healthily (using the Eatwell Plate), where our food comes from and making our own healthy foods. As well working towards our ongoing Walk to School effort, we have been attempting to meet our '5 a day' targets and eat breakfast, drink 6-8 glasses of liquid and do at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Thank you to everyone who joined Mr Cant in the mornings for a 'fitness burst' before classes opened; it was great to see so many of you joining in and we hope you felt more energised to tackle the day afterwards!
Here are are some photos of what we've been up to this week:
Sampling fruit skewers and smoothies after a healthy eating talk.
A chance to try new fruits.
Miss Walton helping Year 5/6 to achieve their daily physical activity target.
Number-crunching targets for our healthy lifestyle tracker.
Mrs Mitchell donned the apron in the Red kitchen for the
'Ready, Steady, Cook!' challenge.
Mr Cant was handed his apron and cap in the Green kitchen.
Mrs Mitchell was pleased with her turkey stir fry.
The school council sampled the teachers' cooking efforts.
Time for the vote.
Big cheers for both kitchens.
Mr Cant's vegetable stir fry was no match for Mrs Mitchell's
outstanding sweet and sour turkey effort.
