Year Two Road Safety Training 2013
Our Year 2 children have taken part in the Hampshire Pedestrian Training Scheme this year. This involved playground training and two visits to the roads around school. They have shown impeccable behaviour and have really taken on board all the advice and learning points during this time.
Here are some of the things we learnt.....
Always find a safe place to cross, ideally on a straight road. Try not to cross on a bend or a hill.
Try to cross at a Pedestrian Crossing, even if it's a bit further away.
At a Pedestrian Crossing, push the button and wait for the green man. Then wait until all the cars have stopped. Walk across looking and listening all the time.
When you cross a driveway, look and listen very carefully. Look out for white reversing lights and listen for engine noise
When there is a road full of parked cars, don't cross in a big space as a car may park in it.
Try to cross in a small gap and look and listen all the time.
We had a celebration assembly to hand out certificates and thank our very helpful Mums and Sheila, whom we couldn't have done this without........Thank you!!!
Wow look at our fluorescent jackets....they help us to be seen clearly
Well done Year 2's for passing your Road Safety Training....remember....
