On Tuesday 8th May, Miss Birch took 23 of our most passionate anti-plastic pioneers from Year 5 to Durlston Court School in Barton-on-Sea for a fun and informative day about the global plastic problem.
In order to attend the trip, each child wrote Miss Birch a persuasive letter to showcase their passion and enthusiasm for the cause. Have a look at some of the amazing letters that were written!
Along with other schools from the local area, we were treated to a special screening of ‘A Plastic Ocean’, a film highlighting the issue of plastic pollution in our seas, as well as taking part in three interesting workshops. These gave us the opportunity to work alongside children from other schools and share ideas for being eco-friendly both in and outside school.
During the workshops, we participated in a ‘silent debate’, which threw up some fascinating viewpoints on the issues at hand, learnt some incredible and sometimes disturbing facts about the scale of waste in our seas, and created informative posters to encourage others to join us on our eco journey.
We have come back to school with lots of great ideas to take to our Eco Warriors for improving our eco-friendliness even more. What a fantastic day!
