Priestlands’ Inclusion Sport Event A Winner with MOSPS Pupils
This week’s sporting event was something a little different. Children from local schools were invited to Priestlands to try their hand at some ‘Inclusion Sports’.
The events were all adapted versions of familiar sports and many of them have been part of the Paralympic, or Invictus Games.
Those that volunteered to represent our school got to enjoy themselves playing seated volleyball, seated goalball (played blindfolded with a ball with a bell in it), boccia (like bowls) and new-age kurling.
Each of the sports demanded real cooperation and teamwork and it was great to see our athletes doing exactly that – not only did they put 100% into each sport, but they worked well as a team, motivated and supported each other and threw themselves into each event with real enthusiasm.
The children all had a great time getting to play new sports (with seated goalball being a real highlight) and Mrs Robinson was very proud of their efforts, but then the afternoon ended on an even higher note, when Georgia and Gabriel were awarded medals for ‘Teamwork, Effort, Attention & Motivation’.
Thank you to all the athletes who represented the school, to Mrs Robinson and to all the parents who transported and supported.
