KS1 Futsal Competition - March 2nd

Futsal Fun For KS1!

Our first competitive sporting event of this half term saw a team of excited KS1 pupils set off to Priestlands to play a fast, fun, indoor version of football, called Futsal.

Five schools from our local area attended the event, which meant that team MOSPS played four games over the course of the afternoon. Each game was 8 minutes long and Mrs Rand employed a ‘rolling-subs’ strategy, so that everybody got a good amount of time on the pitch and legs were kept fresh to deal with some tough competition. The whole team can feel very proud of the way that they played, putting in some spirited performances and showing excellent sportsmanship. For many of them, it was the first time they had played football competitively and they came up against some experienced sides, but despite not winning any of their matches - or scoring any goals - they really enjoyed the event and played with courage and respect in each game. Mrs Rand was really proud of the way the team performed and said that their attitude and enthusiasm was also noted by the staff from Priestlands, who awarded Henry and Teddy ‘Respect’ wristbands at the end of the afternoon.

While we didn’t place in a medal position (Brockenhurst came first, Pennington 2nd and Beaulieu 3rd), the sportsmanship, resilience and enthusiasm shown by the whole team means they are definitely winners in our eyes! Well done to everyone who took part, to Mrs Rand for managing the team and to all the parents who supported with transport on the day.

Our next competitive fixture is a Lower KS2 ‘Bees’ Netball tournament and a chance for the younger members of Coach Brown’s Netball Club to pit their skills against other local schools.
