As part of our Geography topic 'The New Forest as a Sustainable Tourist Destination', we have discovered the importance of supporting local producers. We visited Setley Ridge Vineyard and Farm Shop where we found out about loads of different local products including cheese, jams and pickles, wine and chocolate.
In Design and Technology, we worked in small teams to design and make our very own New Forest Biscuits. On our trip, we learnt all about the 'New Forest Marque'. This is an award given to food or products that have been made with at least 25% of New Forest ingredients. We made sure our biscuits could be given this award. Half of the year group made savoury biscuits, and half made sweet. As well as designing and making the biscuits, we also worked together to design and make an advert and packaging for our biscuits. We enjoyed testing out different ingredients, shapes and sizes and of course tasting our final products!
