Home Learning - Week Beginning 8th June
This week's topic web is all about OCEANS. World Oceans Day 2020 is happening on Monday 8th June and there is a whole online festival taking place for you to join in with. Click here to check out the festival website: https://worldoceanday.school/. This theme is about considering the importance of our oceans and seas, and thinking about the creatures that inhabit them, as well as the significance of water to many different people. There are lots of activities for you to try - you are all also lucky enough to live on the coast so might even be able to get out and enjoy the ocean for yourself too!
Whatever year group you are in, you can work together on aspects of the topic theme. As with previous weeks, just select activities from the topic web that you would like to do - either on your own, with your brother/sister, or together as a family.
As always, we love seeing what you have been up to, so remember to e-mail your teacher with pictures. Thanks to all the children and parents who have already sent things through to us - we love seeing and hearing all about your lock-down experiences and Home Learning!
In addition to the topic-web work, your teachers will have set you Maths and English work that is specific to your Year group / Class.
See the notes below the topic web.
We have set you some more challenges on Education City. Make sure to check your homework section and complete the challenges.
This week, we would like you to research a water sport and complete a piece of writing about it.
You can choose from:
- A persuasive advert for a company that sells ‘experience’ days for your watersport,
- A non-chronological report to teach others about your chosen watersport.
- A short story involving your watersport.
Please do send us your writing – we love seeing what you have been up to!!
This week, we would like you to read two more chapters of your chosen book. Then, in your reading journal, complete one of the following tasks:
Draw an illustration to go with a page of your choice.
Write an interview with one of the characters.
Write a letter from one of the characters to another!
There are also some comprehension tasks on the main Oceans Home Learning page that we would like you to have a go at.
Well done for those of you who have been doing your My Maths tasks each week.
This Week's My Maths:
All pupils have been set a range of different tasks on My Maths. Don’t forget that you can use the ‘Practice’ page first so you know what to do. It might be useful to have some paper for jottings.
In addition to the My Maths Tasks, there are also the White Rose Daily Maths tasks (with video tutorials).
To access the White Rose videos, click on the link and look for your year group.
The follow up tasks are now not available from the WR website, so please click here to access them:
The BBC Bitesize lessons are also a good way to practise your skills.
This week, we would also like you to complete this HeartSmart lesson.
Read through the powerpoint and complete as many of the tasks as you wish.
