Year 3-4 Rounders Competition

Year 3-4 Rounders Competition

The Calendar of inter-school sports is now drawing to a close and this week two teams from Year 3-4 travelled to Priestlands to take part in their last event of the year: a Rounders Tournament.

It was something of a logistical challenge to get all 22 pupils transported to and from the event and we should say a huge thank you to all those parents who helped on the day.

Rounders is played as part of our school PE curriculum, but with tennis balls, rather than traditional rounders balls, so playing with a harder and faster ball provided both excitement and challenge for our two teams. The afternoon saw each team playing against two other schools and Mrs Rand, who accompanied the children to the event, said “If we had been scored on enthusiasm, both teams would have scored top spot. Everyone was fantastic and represented the school brilliantly. It was lovely to see the children’s confidence and skills grow over the afternoon too, but we might need to do a little more work on trying NOT to run each other out!”

The afternoon ended with our Team A crowned as champions, while our Team B finished third in their group. Well done to everyone involved!

Thank you again to all the parents and grandparents who helped with transport, and to Mrs Rand for looking after and coordinating both teams.

Next week is the turn of the Year 5-6s.
