Final Football Fun For Yr 5-6 Earns Smiles & Silverware!
On Wednesday, our Yr 5-6 footballers got a chance to compete against local schools in this week’s PSP sports event. The weather might have been unseasonably cold, but the standard of football was hot and both teams put in some fantastic performances.
The event split the teams from 5 local schools into two seeded leagues, with league 1 competing for medals and League 2 competing for fun. Mrs Rand played an executive managers role and handed over supervision of MOSPS A squad to Mrs Gale and MOSPS B Squad to Mr Penn & Mrs Turner.
Once again, with games lasting 10 minutes and there being no half times, the parent managers were all kept busy with rolling substitutions to ensure that everyone got a good amount of time on the pitch. By all accounts everybody put 100% into their performance and there was some fantastic football played over the course of the afternoon.
MOSPS Bs had four other teams in their league and played each of them twice. They managed to notch up two wins, two losses and two draws, which secured them third place in their league – a fantastic achievement for a relatively inexperienced team.
MOSPS As had 5 other teams in their league and played each of them just once, with one rest break. In what were some fiercely competitive games, our team lost their first match, but then went on to win their next three games. This meant that they missed out on top spot by just one point. Congratulations to Pennington, who came 1st with 10 points and a huge well done to MOSPS As who came second with 9 points ahead of Brockenhurst, with 6 points.
A special mention needs to go to Artur, who picked up the RESPECT wristband for his performances over the afternoon.
A huge WELL DONE and a big THANK YOU to all the footballers who took part, for putting in such brilliant performances and for playing with respect and sportsmanship throughout the event. Thanks also to our very kind parent volunteers, who managed the teams so brilliantly, and, of course, to Mrs Rand.
Next week it is the re-scheduled Yr 5-6 netball event.
