Yr 3/4 Footballers Show Perseverance And Do Us Proud !
This week it was the turn of our Yr 3/4 pupils to take part in the Priestlands School Sports Partnership Football Fanatics Event.
The team, drawn from a hat following unprecedented interest, set off with Mrs Rand, ready for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition. And, with a schedule of 6 games over the afternoon, there was plenty of football for them to enjoy.
The first half of the afternoon was a tough start. Despite the enthusiasm and determination to win from all the players, we lost our first three matches – performing well, but not scoring enough goals. Mrs Rand rotated the players to ensure everyone had a fair amount of time on the pitch and every member of the team gave their all.
After a short break, it was back onto the pitch for another three games, where perseverance and belief combined to see our players dig deep and record two draws and a win. While we didn’t walk away with any medals, the team were able to end the afternoon with smiles. They deserve real credit for their efforts, so it was brilliant to finish off the festival with a well-earned win.
Thanks to all the players, experienced and not so experienced, who took part and gave their all. Thanks, as ever to Mrs Rand for juggling the team sheet and ensuring everyone got a chance to shine, and thanks also to all the parents who helped with transport.
Next week is a Yr 5-6 Inclusion Sport Festival, where pupils get to explore some great games, such as seated volleyball, Boccia, Goal Ball and New age Kurling.
