Fun In The Sun For Yr 3-4 Footballers!
After last week’s wash-out, it has been great to get back to some sport this week! It was a welcome return to football in the PSP calendar and two teams of Year 3-4 pupils set off to take part in a six-a-side tournament in beautiful spring sunshine.
With five other schools in attendance, it was a packed afternoon of football. Mrs Rand took charge of Team Rand and Mrs Humphrey very kindly took charge of Team Dynamo – both were coaching, supporting and being in charge of the rolling substitutions, so they were as exhausted as the players by the end of the event.
Team Rand and Team Dynamos both played six games over the course of the afternoon and demonstrated excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and determination on the pitch. There was much excitement too, with the standard of play high and some cracking goals.
Team Dynamos won two games and lost four, while Team rand won two, drew one and lost three, so a mixed bag of results over the event, but both had done enough to achieve 3rd place in their respective leagues, which is a fantastic achievement!
The sportsmanship focus for the afternoon was RESPECT and wristbands were presented to Adam and Jack for showing respect on and off the pitch, so they deserve a special mention.
Congratulations to all who took part and had fun at the event, you did us proud. Thank you to Mrs Rand, for managing Team Rand; to Mrs Humphrey for her work coaching the Dynamos and, as always, thanks to the parents who helped to transport the children to and from Priestlands.
Next week it is the turn of the Yr 5-6 footballers to take to the pitch.
