Yr 3-4 Swimming Gala - 19th January

Yr 3-4 Swimmers Dive into Competition Smiling

This week it was the turn of the Lower Juniors to head off to Lymington Recreation Centre for their swimming event in the PSP calendar and the set off full of excitement, keen to get stuck into the races.

Unfortunately only Brockenhurst Primary were able to make the event along with our swimmers, as two other schools had to pull out at the last minute, but that did little to dampen the enthusiasm of team MOSPS. The afternoon began with front crawl races for both girls and boys and was followed by backstroke and breaststroke races, each over 25m. Both sets of swimmers were evenly matched so both schools chalked up some wins in the straight sprints. After that it was time for some relays (front crawl and mixed) in which, once again, both schools recorded wins. The event ended with a fun raft race and this ensured that all the participants finished exhausted, but with a smile on their faces.

While Team MOSPS feel they did enough to win the event overall, we shall have to wait for the scores to be  totalled by the judges and emailed to us to confirm this – the result will be posted on the website. You will also find on the website a report of the event written by one of the swimmers, which is well worth a read!

Mrs Rand was so proud of the way that our swimmers behaved and participated throughout the event and wanted to say a huge WELL DONE to all who took part. Thanks also to Mrs Seddon, who helped out and to all of the parents who transported the excited bunch to and from the event.

Next week, it is the turn of the Yr 5-6 team to get their feet wet!
