Muddy Fun At Yr 5-6 Football Tournament
Last Wednesday, in really tough conditions, two excited teams of footballers and their brave parents set off with Mrs Robinson for the annual Yr 5-6 Football tournament.
We all expected it to be held on the astroturf, but arrived to find that it was to be played out on the muddy and slippy grass pitches. The cold and sporadic rain added to the conditions and it was all that the players could do to stay upright, but despite these difficulties everyone showed great effort and determination all afternoon.
Team A were managed by Mr Burke and they put in some fantastic performances against tough opposition. The quality of football was really high and the players pulled together as a team showing great spirit, resilience sportsmanship. Sadly they finished just outside the medal positions in their league, but should feel really proud of how they performed.
Team B made a slow start in their league, but then started working together really well, defending doggedly and scoring some great goals. Mrs Robinson was especially impressed with Oscar, who ran at top speed throughout the tournament and refused to give up on a ball.
Well done to all who played, supported, or taxied on such a miserable winter’s afternoon. Particular thanks to Mrs Robinson and Mr Burke for being such excellent managers.
