KS1 Futsal Event - 22nd February

Fast-Action Futsal Fun For KS1!

Our first competitive sporting event of this half term saw a team of excited KS1 pupils set off to Priestlands to play a fast, fun, indoor version of football, called Futsal.

Five schools from our local area attended the event, which meant that team MOSPS played 8 games over the course of the afternoon. Each game was 5 minutes long and Mrs Rand employed a ‘rolling-subs’ strategy, so that everybody got a good amount of time on the pitch and legs were kept fresh to deal with the competition. The whole team can feel very proud of the way that they played, putting in some spirited performances and showing excellent sportsmanship. For many of them, it was the first time they had played football competitively, but their effort and enthusiasm saw them notch up 6 wins and 2 draws over the afternoon. Mrs Rand was really proud of the way the team performed and said that their We CARE attitude was also noted by the staff from Priestlands, who awarded Joshua and Benjamin ‘Respect’ wristbands at the end of the afternoon.

When the points were tallied at the end of the afternoon, only two points separated first and second place, so it was a close affair. Pennington took 3rd place, MOSPS came 2nd and Beaulieu took top spot. Congratulations to the whole team for playing with such sportsmanship and enthusiasm. It certainly sounds like you had a fun afternoon. You should feel really proud of your silver medals – we are certainly proud of you!!

Thank you, as ever to Mrs Rand for managing the team and to all the parents who transported and supported on the day.

Our next competitive fixture is a new one to the PSP calendar – A Yr 5-6 Dodgeball tournament. We are all looking forward to it!
