Art - Fossils
As part of our topic on Mary Anning, our art topic was 'Fossils.' The children were fascinated at Mary Anning's own sketches of fossils and they themselves then examined a range of fossils and looked closely at their shape, texture and colour. They then had a try at sketching them and annotating their work. We then practiced making a fossil from playdogh to understand the technique and finally the children used clay to make their finished piece. They learnt the different techniques to use when sculpting with clay and added the texture using a range of tools. They were so proud of their work when it was painted and complete.
