To commemorate Remembrance Day, the children in Year 1 and 2 thought about the children in wartime and what happened to them. We learnt about what an evacuee is and we watched video clips about people recalling their own personal experiences of being an evacuee. The children then had to think about what they would take with them if they had to leave their home and go to a new place. What is important to them and why? We wrote this on the outline of a suitcase. We then created a piece of artwork showing the differences of where they would have started from, the city, to where they had to go, the countryside. Each class then wrote their own remembrance prayer.
