Hansel and Gretel
To begin our English unit on Hansel and Gretel the children were amazed to come into school and find their classroom had been filled with enormous sweets, candy canes, gingerbread men and lollies!
Talk 4 Writing
The children learnt the story first by using Talk 4 Writing and then drew the actions to help them remember their sentences. Once they had drawn it, they rehearsed it many times and finally they were able to re write the story.
The Gingerbread House
The children became so creative when we had to design and make their own gingerbread house for the witch! The children worked together to decide how to decorate it so that it would encourage and persuade children to want to come inside. Finally we added real sweets to finish them off!

Letter from the witch!
After we had made our own gingerbread houses we had fun pretending to be the witch and we had to think how we could persuade children to come into our house.
We wrote a letter to the children in the village encouraging them to come and take a look!
