Home Learning - Week Beginning 8th June
This week's topic web is all about OCEANS. World Oceans Day 2020 is happening on Monday 8th June and there is a whole online festival taking place for you to join in with. Click here to check out the festival website: https://worldoceanday.school/. This theme is about considering the importance of our oceans and seas, and thinking about the creatures that inhabit them, as well as the significance of water to many different people. There are lots of activities for you to try - you are all also lucky enough to live on the coast so might even be able to get out and enjoy the ocean for yourself too!
Whatever year group you are in, you can work together on aspects of the topic theme. As with previous weeks, just select activities from the topic web that you would like to do - either on your own, with your brother/sister, or together as a family.
As always, we love seeing what you have been up to and last week we didn't hear from many of you, so please, please remember to e-mail your teacher with pictures of things you have been getting up to. Thanks to all the children and parents who regularly send things through to us - we love seeing and hearing all about your lock-down experiences and checking up on your Home Learning!
In addition to the topic-web work, your teachers will have set you Maths, English and new for this week HEARTSMART work that is specific to your Year group / Class.
See the notes below the topic web.
There was an error processing this link (the page was not found).
Over this next week we would love to hear from everyone in our classes, all about what you have been up to this week, whether you have visited the World Ocean Day website and used any of those resources and anything else linked to the exciting Oceans topic.
Don't forget you can email us to ask questions about any aspect of your Home Learning.
Lots of your work and photos appear in the galleries in each of the topic folders on the 'Home Learning' page (under the parents tab) on the MOSPS website, so check them out to see what your friends are getting up to.
English
This week, we'd love to see some of the writing you complete as part of our Oceans topic, or, in fact, any writing linked to the comprehension tasks in the links below - remember you can send us photos of any writing you do via Gmail.
This week we have set you something different for your English. There are three challenge levels (Green is the least challenging, Red is the most challenging). You could try to complete all three. There are vocabulary definitions too, to help you out, and the answers for your parents. See below for the challenges.
Once again, we have uploaded a reading challenge for you to complete. This week there are differentiated comprehension activities linked to our Oceans topic. Just choose the level of comprehension that best suits you - one, two, or three stars.
If you would like something else on top, then visit the BBC Bitesize website and access some of the Reading Activities (either this week's, or any that have been put on the BBC website before).

Maths
Once again, thank you to all of you who have been doing your My Maths tasks each week. Most of you have been getting some super scores, but a few of you are still slipping under the 80% pass rate. Remember, if you don't reach 80%, then do the practice activity before giving the task another go.
This Week's My Maths:
All pupils have been set a range of different tasks on My Maths. These will have a start date of June 8th
Don’t forget they can use the ‘Practice’ page first so they know what to do. It might be useful to have some paper for jottings.
In addition to the My Maths Tasks, there are also the brilliant White Rose Daily Maths tasks (with video tutorials). They are clear and challenging and well worth a look to keep your maths skills in tip-top condition.
