During Waste Week, Year 1 and 2 focused on looking after our world. Linking with their recent geography topic, Wonders of the World, the children learned more about the effect of pollution and climate change on The Great Barrier Reef. This also linked to previous learning on plastic pollution and how our actions here effect the wider world. The children also considered The New Forest and the dangers of litter to the animals and their habitat. The New Forest National Park Authority Officer visited the children and gave an introduction to the Heath, Woodland and Coast using cuddly toys, models and display boards. They covered topics such as:
What threatens the Forest?
Who looks after the Forest?
What can you do to help?
The children made their own forest animals and a collage of the forest.
