Stone Age

The Stone Age

Year 3/4 have been learning about life in the Stone Age.

They have learnt that the Stone Age was a very long period of time!

The children have investigated the different types of houses and how they evolved throughout the Stone Age era from caves to teepees to stone houses. They have also explored how the Stone Age people would hunt and gather their own food using tools they made from wood and stone.

The children have looked at Stonehenge and worked in groups to replicate it using biscuits and icing. We realised it was quite a tricky task even with biscuits!

We also had a go at creating Stone Age cave paintings on the wall and under the desk using chalk and charcoal. We broke the chalk with a stone and mixed with water to make our own form of paint.

Finally, after completing an end of topic 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' style quiz, the children learnt a Stone Age song to help them remember all the key facts from the topic.
