This half term the children have been focussing on Wassily Kandinsky in Art. We learnt about who he was and the type of art he produced. We compared his work with Alma Woodsey Thomas and the children were able to have thoughtful discussions about the art pieces that they liked the most and why. We all enjoyed learning about primary and secondary colours and we loved mixing the paint. We then thought more about different shades and how we can produce these using black and white paint. The children had a very busy afternoon trying different materials to create one of his pieces - chalk, collage, pens, paint and pastals. They then used all that they had learnt to design and create their own final pieces based on his work.
