In RE this half term we have been looking at the Golden Thread of love.
We began our RE cycle by listening to a piece of music and understanding what the lyrics were about. We recognised that the song was about love. We looked at some images and discussed how they were showing love before thinking about how we show love to our families. We discussed what things we do as a family that are special and whether they were things we did regularly or occasionally. Learning that traditions are special times when people come together to show that they love and care for each other, we thought about what traditions were had as a family.
Some Christians come together in church on a Sunday to show their love to God and to worship together. We also looked at other times that Christians came together: Easter, Christmas, Shrove Tuesday and Harvest. Weddings, funerals and christenings are other special celebrations that some Christians come together for.
Judaism is another religion. Lots of people around the world are Jews. Jewish people have many traditions too. Many Jews come together to celebrate Shabbat which starts on a Friday and ends on Saturday.
