RE - Light
In this half term's RE, the children were immersed in a topic about light and the importance of it to Christians and Jews during the festivals of Advent and Hanukkah.
In the first lesson, the children were invited to a dark space where they experienced what it would be like to be in a place where there was no light. They were then able to use torches and fairy lights to explore the effect they had in a dark place.
The children learned about the Christian festival of Advent and explored the significance of candles. They learned what the five candles represented and when they were lit. They made their own Advent wreaths.
In addition, the children learned about Hanukkah and explored the significance of candles in this festival through the story of Hanukkah. They made their own menorah candles.
