We 'CARE' Courage, Aspire, Respect, Explore

Sports News

We are really proud of the sporting opportunities available to our pupils here at MOSPS. We offer a wide range of clubs and signpost local opportunities to build on our curriculum delivery. To discover what clubs are on offer this term, click here.

Whilst our primary aim is inclusion and enjoyment of sport, we also recognise the role of competition in developing the sports stars of the future, so we are proud to be part of the Priestlands School Sports Partnership (PSSP), which provides regular opportunities for inter-school competition with other local schools.

Last year (2023-24) saw huge numbers of children participating in sporting events and we are really proud of all the children who represented the school because, whether winning or losing, they showed the school's "We CARE" values through their teamwork, positivity, effort and sportsmanship.

Through this page you will be able to keep track of our efforts from previous years and share in our achievements.

2023-24    Highlights

County Cricket Champions......Again!

Huge congratulations to Coach Brown, and to the outstanding Heys and Hoes, who underlined our dominance of Hampshire Girls' Cricket, by turning on the style at this year's County Finals. Having taken both top spots at the district competition, both teams topped their groups to make it to the semi finals of the county finals tournament- an amazing achievement! Only a single run kept the girls from facing each other in the final, leaving the Heys facing St Patricks Primary. They signed off a superb season with an emphatic win, making it the third year in a row that Milford have been crowned County Cricket Champions!

Netball County Champions!

Congratulations to Coach Brown and her amazing group of netballers who, have been crowned Hampshire County Champions for 2024. Two teams form MOSPS made it through to the County finals after an amazing display at the New Forest regionals: the Jets and the Spitfires.

Playing in different tiers at the County Finals, both teams put in an amazing display, coming first and fourth respectively. Check out the full report below.

Champion Gymnast Inspires All at MOSPS

Our sports partners, Premier Education kindly organised for local Team GB gymnast, Kelly Simm to come in to talk to pupils about her journey from the first forward roll to her last gold medal. She pitched her talk perfectly, talking through key qualities, such as resilience and courage in the context of her experiences over the last 22 years. Her talk was illustrated by some brilliant photos and videos of her performing at the highest level on both the vault and the bars. She wrapped up with a Q&A session where she was put on the spot to answer questions, such as “Which is your favourite, the vault, or the bars?”

Following her talk, children from KS1 and 2 who are members of Premier Education’s gym clubs on a Tuesday, or Friday were then treated to a half-hour workshop with Kelly, something that they all enjoyed. They even got to hold her Commonwealth gold medal!

We would like to give our thanks to Kelly, for her amazing talk and the time she gave to our MOSPS gymnasts in the workshop. WE would also like to thank Premier Education for selecting our school to host Kelly and organising the morning's activities.
