Y1/2 began their learning by looking at the Golden Thread concept of love - particularly family love.
They talked about what love looked like to them and how it is shown in their families. They thought about special traditions that they did together and how it linked to their concept of love.
They then looked at how some Christians spend special time together by going to Church and thought of some important Christian celebrations they shared as a family such as Shrove Tuesday, Easter Week and Christmas.
This was their first time learning about Judaism and the children looked at where Jewish people go to worship, their Holy text - The Torah and their religious symbol - The Star of David.
The children then looked at the Jewish tradition of Shabbat and thought about why that would be a special time together for some Jewish families.
