In science this half term we have experienced and looked more closely at the world around us focusing on seeds and bulbs. As scientists, the learners were curious and asked questions about what they had noticed when using magnifying glasses to compare and contrast different seeds and bulbs. We discussed and explored the lifecycle of bulbs and sorted a selection of bulbs into 2 groups- perennial or annual.
The children set up several comparative tests to show what seeds and bulbs need to grow and to stay healthy. This allowed them to observe changes over time and using simple scientific language were able to answer their own questions. Once the seeds and bulbs had grown the children planted them in the school garden. This allowed the children to continue to observe them growing.
